Join us on Wednesday October 3 for a special evening with two leading spokesmen in psychedelics; Dr. Dennis McKenna and Robert Barnhart, both members of the renowned Heffter Institute.

Dennis and Robert will start the evening with a short talk on the changing cultural mores of psychedelics. This discussion will be moderated by Mark Becker, founder of New Life Magazine, New Life Expo and NYC’s first Yoga Center.

After the talk a screening of 2 short documentaries:

THE SHAMAN AND THE SCIENTIST, directed by Sarah Hutt features Dennis McKenna exploring the symbiotic relationship between the shaman and the indigenous plants in the amazonian rainforest and how these could useful in the treatment of mental illness.

A NEW UNDERSTANDING, directed by Robert chronicles the beneficial uses of Psilocybin on terminally ill patients and  his success in having Psilocybin moved from a schedule 1 substance to schedule 2.

Dennis McKenna is an American ethno pharmacologist, research, and author. He is the brother of well-known Psychedelics proponent Terence McKenna and is a founding board member and the director of ethnopharmacology at the Heffter Research Institute, He received his doctorate in botanical sciences from the University of British Columbia,  He has authored numerous scientific articles and books-authored The Invisible Landscape with his brother Terence and his recently wrote The Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss about his and his brother Terence's life and journeys together. Dennis has appeared on numerous talks shows and movies from Joe Rogan to DMT-The Spirit Molecule

Robert Barnhart has a BA in comparative religion from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He has been a strong advocate for the study of psychoactive materials in spiritual and nontraditional healing practices for many years. He sits on the board of both The Heffter Research Institute and The Multi-Disciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies. Mr. Barnhart is active caring for the wellbeing of our planet's environmental ecosystem. Robert is also a producer for Huxley's Exit, and an associate producer for both Mantra, Sounds into Silence and the new documentary from Shock to Awe

Moderator Mark Becker

Mark Becker, named Yogiman by Robin Williams, is the Founder of Serenity, NYC's first yoga center, founder of NEWLIFE Magazine & NEWLIFE EXPO and a true Psychedelic Warrior. He owes his being a pioneer in the consciousness industry to LSD. At NEW LIFE EXPO he introduced his old friend Timothy Leary to Terence McKenna.

Renowned psychedelic and horror film composer Simon Boswell  will play at the Mercury Lounge in NYC as part of The Psychedelic Film and Music Festival.

If you’re a movie fan you’ll certainly know his music: Simon Boswell is one of the UK’s finest living soundtrack composers.’ Tom Huddleston TIME OUT LONDON MAGAZINE 

Simon's work has graced films by some of independent cinema’s incredible mavericks such as Alejandro Jodorowsky (SANTA SANGRE), Dario Argento (PHENOMENA), Michael Hoffman (A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM), Danny Boyle (SHALLOW GRAVE) and Richard Stanley (HARDWARE, DUST DEVIL). Simon's band has former members of Primal Scream and Chemical Brothers.

Simon hasn't been in NYC in a while so this promises to be a very exciting show!!!!
